WebRTC is the browser technology behind video calls. To connect calls directly it asks the network for your addresses, and a badly configured browser or VPN can hand out your real public IP even while the VPN is connected. Websites can trigger this silently. Good VPN apps and browser settings block it.
Every website visit starts with a DNS lookup ("what's the address of example.com?"). If those lookups go to your home ISP's servers instead of through the VPN tunnel, your ISP still sees every site you visit β even though your traffic is encrypted. That's a DNS leak.
Many VPNs only tunnel IPv4 traffic. If your connection also has IPv6, the browser may use it directly β outside the VPN β exposing your real identity. A good VPN either fully supports IPv6 or blocks it while connected.
